Kansas City

A lot of people have been asking me for updates on how things are going, so I have created a blogspot to do just that. :)

For those of you who don't know, I am living in Kansas City this summer. Actually, it's Overland Park, but close enough I guess. The city is beautiful! It is not the plan, flat, boring city many warned me about. The roads were confusing so I got lost quite a bit (big surprise) at first. Numbered streets run east to west and get larger the farther south you go. Named streets run north and south, and there's like four of them that you have to know. Numbered streets are never just numbers. Like rt 60 or 176 or 137. I live on 143RD street. Not to be confused with 143 (one-forty-three). The 'ird' is essential.

The summer team is great. The dynamic of the team is quite interesting. We had to take personality tests at our weekend retreat. I'm an OTTER. Not quite sure how I feel about it yet, but we'll see :) We have 7 interns - 4 full-time summer interns (me, Kellynne, Adam, and Nick), 1 part-time year round (TJ), and 2 full-time year round interns (Ben and Alicia). Nate is the middle school pastor and Tim is the high school pastor. We pretty much do everything together.

I am really enjoying being here. I see confirmation everyday that I am where God wants me. It's challenging, and sometimes hard, but I really love being down here. The people I work with are awesome, the kids I'm meeting are incredible, and just knowing that I can wake up and do what I love to do and be pushed to do more is rejuvinating.

Anyway, more to come later. :)

Jessica,

It was great seeing you today. For someone living in KC you sure do spend a lot of time in Deerfield, IL! I'm glad things are going well for you there. I'm sure God is using you and the others to make a big impact! Keep it up.

In Him,
David Bratlie
